How long have you been shooting?
Photography has always been my lifelong passion. I have been photographing for 15+ years and have been photographing weddings professionally since 2016 primarily in Mendocino County.
How do you approach weddings?
My approach is highly photojournalistic, yet remains unique to each couple. Starting with our first phone call we will develop a connection that will help solidify what you’re looking for. Through understanding each of my couple's style, preferences, concerns, and day-of needs, I am able to create an experience that is tailored to you while still adhering to my particular style and aesthetic.
I prefer a less styled or posed approach and rely heavily on the natural unfolding of the day, people and the celebration. I only insert myself to guide you into optimal light for portraits, couples portraits, and group formals should you want to include these elements (don't worry, you'll have fun through it all!).
How many photos will we get back?
I don't like to give hard numbers to my couples because every wedding is different, however, you can usually expect 50-100 photos per hour of coverage.
When can we expect our photos back? How do you share photos? Can we get our photos ahead of your standard turnaround time?
3-5 weeks during slow season (November - March)
6-8 weeks during busy season (June-October)
Your photo gallery will be available through a Pixieset online platform. Here, you can download, share the gallery through social media, send to friends and family and purchase prints from the online store.
Rush orders are available to couples should they request it. The cost of a rush order is $1,000 and you can expect your images within 10 business days.
Do you shoot with backup?
Always. I always bring my backup gear to weddings. In addition to that your images are being backed up as I shoot onto two separate cards within each of my cameras. Your wedding images are backed up to two separate hard drives as soon as I get home and your wedding day cards do not get reused until your gallery has been delivered. At all times there are three copies of your wedding day images until your full gallery has been fully edited and delivered.
What are the next steps in the booking process. and what is the package payment schedule?
Sure thing, once we like each other, 50% of the total balance is due at booking and is considered your deposit. The remaining balance is due two weeks prior to your wedding. This deposit is non refundable.
What if you can’t make my wedding? (Remember Covid? Ah!)
While I would only miss your wedding if I were ill to the point of hospitalization/immobility, a highly trained professional wedding photographer from my inner community of photographers I trust with my business (and have worked with in the past) would take my place and shoot your wedding for me. I would still handle all of the culling, editing and image delivery so that you can be sure my style pulls through for the end product.
Do you provide a second photographer or assistant?
On our initial call together, we will discuss the scope and size of your wedding. If it feels like we are going to need to have an additional second photographer onsite that day we can add this into our final price contract. Depending on the venue, I typically recommend a second photographer if the wedding size exceeds 130 people or if the bridal parties are getting ready at two different locations. Wish I could, but I can’t be two places at once.
Can we provide a list of must-have shots?
Of course, having a list is great, especially one that matches the timeline your planner will have. I consistently request clients to provide a list of any group photographs they desire, as capturing these falls within my responsibilities, and I have full control over them. This presents a challenge because attempting to predict inherently spontaneous moments often leads to unfulfilled expectations.
